Two Months or Eight Weeks

Somehow 2 months sounds longer than 8 weeks but whichever way you slice it... 56 days or so until we head off.

We've both gotten our Visas and had a taste of Indian bureaucracy at the Indian Consulate in Sydney. Visa applications are accepted only between 9:30am and 12:30pm Monday to Friday. It takes a week to complete and you can only pick up your approved Visa between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. So, I submitted mine and was due to pick it up the next Friday. So on the Friday I took Ian's application and submitted it and wasn't looking forward to having to wait around until 2:30 to pick mine up.

So, when I reached the window I slid Ian's application across the counter and meekly asked if I could pick mine up to save waiting. The young Indian guy looked at me for a full 30 seconds before smiling and saying "Yes". One small win against the Indian machine... I know it will be a very rare one!

I've had my shots for 6 different diseases and been given all the health advice including the ok from my cardiologist so I'm hoping we'll pull through it all in one piece. Malaria seems to be the big risk but we'll take all the precautions so fingers crossed.
